After 15 years with GEC and the Howden Group Jim led two successful management buy-ins during the late 80's and early 90's, exiting the latter through a reversal into a public company in 1995. He has extensive international business experience covering various market sectors, these include: engineering, support services, distribution and life sciences.

Since 1996 through his role as Non Executive Chairman in a number of ventures he has had an ongoing involvement in merger and acquisition activities.

He is currently Chairman of Cascade Technologies Ltd. world leaders in the application of cascade laser technology and is a Non Executive Director of the Scottish Co-Investment Fund.
